Dem. Super Delegate Donna Brazile E-Mails Teen About “Uncivil, Repugnant and Vile” Clinton Supporters?
Going through RealClearPolitics ReaderArticles I stumbled upon a young 18 year old lady that was quite upset about an e-mail she said she received from Democratic uncommitted super delegate Donna Brazile.
This young Democrat, who according to her web site, Little Isis, must have just turned 18 years old recently, said she “was on Taylor Marsh and someone said that she (Brazile) responded to one of their emails on her blackberry before she went into the Situation Room with Wolfe Blitzer,” so she “decided to write to Donna Brazile” herself, ”to appeal to her better nature.” Apparently, ”a lot of people have been writing to the DNC and to Super Delegates about seating Florida and Michigan and about declaring,” and some people ”had some pretty colorful threads with Donna Brazile.”
So this young Democrat wrote the following message to Donna Brazile:

Subject: This Race
Hi Donna!!!!
I am emailing you on behalf of many people. I am, as you may know, a Hillary Clinton Supporter. You have probably gotten a lot of emails from her supporters, and I understand from the blogs I often frequent that you have responded to many of them.
I want you to know that I read bits and pieces of your autobiography, Cooking With Grease, and thought it was wonderful and well written. I came to understand from your book and from a lot of what I have witnessed in this election cycle that to simply put groups of people in Demographics and Exit polls is a misunderstanding of both America and the Democratic Party.
What I have learned is that people often vote based on their experiences. You, as an Undeclared Obama supporter, probably identify strongly with his candidacy because of the struggles you went through during a time when race relations in this country were in turmoil. I voted for Hillary Clinton, not only because I relate to her strongly as both a person and a woman who is very spiritual and devoted to her family and to helping others, but also because she is the greatest candidate to lead this country out of the mess we’re in, and because her policy proposals have been phenominal and close to my heart, because it proves to me that she is not simply talking and promising change, she is telling me how she is going to make it happen. It proves to me that she actually cares.
As a young person, I have a big future ahead of me, and I also have dreams and ambitions, and strong opinions and many other things. CNN tells me every day that I should be supporting Barack Obama, because his freshness and newness should appeal to my fickle nature. But I support Hillary, and like many of her supporters, I feel sad and dissappointed and hurt and many other things by what I see, based on rationality and facts, as the poor and undeserved treatment she and her husband have received by the DNC party elite and the Chicago Style Campaign tactics of Senator Obama’s Campaign that I have witnessed with my own eyes and heard a number of stories about.
I understand that many of the emails you have received by Clinton Supporters urging you to do the right and ethical thing by seating Michigan and Florida delegates have been angry and often probably obnoxious. But you cannot possibly understand how frustrated they are. And while you may say that they are “the reason” Hillary is losing, whatever her supporters have done or said pale in comparison to the abuse and mistreatment we have suffered from some supporters of Senator Obama.
You may use Roe V Wade as a trump card for accusing them of being petty in their vows to not support Senator Obama, should he be the nominee, but I assure you that using something like that as a threat will not work, because there are few (actually, no) politicians I have seen that are as devoted to a woman’s right to choose than Hillary Clinton, and you know that as well as I.
Ms. Brazille, I urge you not to disclude and disenfranchise millions of voters from every walk of life from this nominating process simply for the sake of one candidate, because doing so would be an awful mistake. I have respect for you as a person, Ms. Brazille, but I would implore you to make the right decision and seat Florida and Michigan . I would also implore you to stop encouraging super delegates to force Senator Clinton out of the race, because the more they do this, the stronger she gets.
Ms. Brazille, I cannot pretend to understand what you have gone through in your life, nor what you are going through now. It would be ignorant of me to try. But many people feel angry when they are stereotyped or put in a box because if what candidate they support. I support Hillary Clinton, and I love all of my friends. Including the great African American friends I have that I adore. and all of the African American women at my mother’s church who embrace me and always tell me how “pretty” I look every time I see them. I also love my Latino friends, my Italian friends, my Jewish friends, my Catholic friends.
As I said, I cannot pretend to understand your experiences, but nor can you understand mine. Just because a person’s skin may be paler that yours, does not mean their lives are without suffering.
I, for one, cry at night wondering what my republican mother will do if anything happens to her, because she doesn’t have Health Insurance. And because of this, my mother may just support Hillary Clinton over John McCain come this fall. She is a Republican who supports Hillary Clinton not because Rush Limbaugh told her to, but because she believes that Hillary Clinton is a Candidate that may actually care about her.
So Ms. Brazille, I would yet again urge you to do everything you can to seat Michigan and Floridaproperly, and also, I would ask that you stop saying you are “undeclared” on CNN’s panels when clearly you know which candidate you support.
Thank you very much for reading this email. Like you, I am very emotionally invested in this Campaign, (as is Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a Congresswoman from the district next to mine who also supports Hillary :D) and wish you all the luck in the world.
respectfully,
A young female voter from Ohio]
This was Brazile’s response to this young Hillary Clinton supporter:
[Thanks Natalie,
As of today, I am not going to respond to any more anti American, Anti Democratic emails. Have a nice day.
I am sorry because you are sincere, but the Hillary forces are uncivil, repugnant and vile. When you come up for air and would like to email a person who cares about America and not just a personality, I will respond.
Thanks for your time and your interest.
Donna]
Here is the rest of Little Isis’ blog entry:
[I kid you not. That was her reply. This is DNC leadership. A Superdelegate and a person responsible for seating Florida and Michigan. Is this normal behavior for party leadership? I must say that I'm somewhat confused. And if anyone can tell me how my letter to her was "Anti-American" and "Anti-Democratic" and how I supposedly "don't care about America" because I urged her to count the votes in two swing states, please let me know. I'm dying to figure out how counting votes is "Anti-American" and "Anti-Democratic". I would urge everyone not to try and email her anymore. She is beyond rationality at this point. And I would also urge everyone who did have exchanges with her to contact the DNC about this and also to send what she wrote back to every media outlet you possibly can. She clearly is incredibly unprofessional, and it alarms me that she is in the position she is in right now.]
If all that I have posted is true ( I don’t have a good reason not to believe that it isn’t), then the Obama forces truly are a scary bunch, in my opinion.
This is the comment I left on her blog:
If that e-mail from Donna Brazile is true (I don't have a reason why I shouldn't believe you are telling the truth about it), she really is quite reckless.
I am a McCain supporter, but that doesn't mean I don't empathize with your feelings concerning her utter disrespect for you and the millions of other Hillary Clinton supporters she seems to have trashed with her response.
Bill Clinton said that if Hillary and John McCain were their partys' presidential candidates, it would be a respectful (though vigorous) match-up. As you may know, Hillary and Mr. McCain are friends, and McCain is, I believe, trying to run an honest, dignified campaign. Barack Obama, on the other hand, has been playing what I consider to be dirty tricks against both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCain. I have also witnessed liberal media trying to trip up Hillary for a long time now, and it's about time you moderate folks fought back against them. They do NOT seem to think you moderate Democrats should get in THEIR way of coordinating THEIR new leader for the THEIR Democratic party. They seem to want you to get OUT of the way RIGHT NOW, but will then assuredly ask for your vote in November so that THEIR policies and agenda's can prevail.
Look, I am a Conservative person who has major problems with Senator McCain on several issues I care deeply about. Yet I will support him against Barack Obama in a heartbeat. What I want you to consider doing is to support Mr. McCain this year, then in 2012, when McCain will be 76 years old, you can support Hillary Clinton again. If Obama wins, Mrs. Clinton might not get a chance to campaign for the presidency again.
By the way, I plan on putting your letter, along with Donna Brazile's nasty response, in a blog post at my blog. I hope you don't mind. If you do, please let me know.
BTW, here is a blog entry that contains a link showing Obama's many (67 and counting) misrepresentations of facts. Mrs. Clinton seems pretty honest about what she wants to do as president, while Mr. Obama seems to major in FRAUDULENT political discourse.
http://777denny.wordpress.com/2008/05/02/does-barack-obama-have-trouble-telling-the-truth-there-are-67 reasons-why-you-should-ask/
Thanks for listening.]
I urge all moderate Democrats to seriously consider the above strategy so that your candidate can run again in 2012. Don’t let the Democratic party become Obamatized so that there isn’t any room left for moderates. Look what how they trash Hillary Clinton supporters at the Daily Kos and Huffington Post. Don’t you see how they loathe you, but NOT your support and vote? Show them who really is the back-bone of your party or your party might not be recognizable once the Obamites seize control of it.

Hi, thank you for commenting on my blog, and thank you for posting this. I’m actually glad that word about this is spreading around, because believe me, this story is absolutely true. And I’m not the only one. Tons of Clinton supporters have emailed Brazile and gotten the same rude responses. I think this one was just the icing on the cake. And to think, it was from me, huh?
I am going to send this to FOX, MSNBC, CNN, ect. later this morning, and hope that one of them will pick up on it, because people need to know what the Democratic Party has become. Someone commented on another Blog, Larry Johnson, about how it is amazing that the only respect we even get is from kind, rational conservatives like yourself and FOX news. I want to thank you for petitioning me for supporting Senator McCain. Sadly, your strategy may actually work. And Senator McCain will undoubtedly win the General Election, should Obama be the nominee. Something McCain knows as well as you. I am just sad to see my party become what it is becoming, and am sad about shams of progressives like Markos at Daily Kos and Ariana Huffington treat the Democratic base this way. It’s almost as the Democrats enjoy losing.
Anyway, thanks.
This should show up on the front pages of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angelos times, et al.
It should be on every nightly news program. The young lady’s e-mail was respectful; Ms. Brazile’s response was highly rude and very telling about the way these primaries are being run.
Can someone send a copy of Brazile’s response to Debbie Wasserman Shultz, Florida Representative supporting Hillary.(I am fron the great state of FLorida and I am personally am tired of being voiceless down here) I find Brazilles response vile, rude, disrespectful, although it does not surprise me one bit. I have known all along that she was an Obama supporter. CNN will not put any strong Hillary supporters on as political analysts. They do this on purpose. I feel really bad for Natalie, as I thought your letter was very professional and respectful. If Donna wants to see vile, repugnant and Anti American comments, all she needs to do is look at the Obama supporters blogs, the Obama memos, and the Obama supported media. It is a disgrace what the African American congress has been doing. If Donna and her “friends” think Obama will win the GE with the racist, rude, vile and arrogant behavior they have portrayed in this primary, then they are just plain mistaken.
If Hillary is NOT the nominee in the fall, then my vote will be a vote “against” Obama. Now if you want to call that Un-american, then let us take a look at how Un-american the Obama supporters behave during caucus’ and primarys. Let us take a look at how Obama “clung” on for 20 years to an Un-American Pastor.
Don’t go there Donna. You will lose this one.
Hillary 08/ If not Hillary then McCain.

Little Isis,
Thanks for stopping by and giving us your honest comments.
Most conservatives, although there are exceptions, are kind when people are kind to them. They are hard-hitting when applicable, too. But to treat a young Democrat who only was trying to be honest and helpful the way Ms. Brazile treated you was, in my opinion, totally uncalled for, unprofessional and outrageous.
Her, along with her ilk, seem to a very arrogant, elite, snobby bunch who are trying to push THEIR candidate upon the Democratic party regardless of whether or not the non-elites want him or not. Hillary Clinton should not have to endure the hostile attitudes and action of the far-left loons (like O’Reilly likes to call them) who are so vile, disrespectful and utter contemptible to her AND her supporters.
Remember, you can have a temporary (permanent if YOU choose) in the Republican party this elections cycle until you get your party back from the crazy left. Most of us will treat you and your fellow Democrats with respect. Let me know if anyone does not treat you respectfully. We can forcefully discourse with each other through respectful diplomacy, understanding that human beings should not be treated like dogs or pests, which is something that Donna Brazile and her ilk do not seem to understand.
BTW, McCain isn’t so bad, he will treat you and your fellow Democrats respectfully, too. Remember that he spent 5 1/2 years being EXTREMELY (notwithstanding those who are trying to smear even this fact) disrespected by enemy communists, so he knows what it means to be dissed.
Come back again as you wish, even if you have a bone to pick with me. Being respectful can go along way towards understanding, which can sometimes lead to changes in viewpoints one way or another.

RobininFL,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate your honesty.
CNN, along with other leftist outlets, seems to be pushing THEIR candidate upon the non-elites in the Democratic party. They seem to be using tactics and techniques of favoritism toward Obama, while ever so boldly trying to push Hillary Clinton and her supporters out of the way for THEIR agendas to be fulfilled. Maybe you moderate Democrats should teach these elites a lesson. You are welcome in the Republican party (stay as long as YOU decide) until you get your party back from these disrespectful, snobby leftists.
Remember, McCain and most conservatives welcome you and will treat you with RESPECT, even though we may vehemately discourse with you about subjects and postitions. Respect can go along way towards understanding, which can lead to changed thinking. I have changed my mind over the years.
As far as sending the e-mail to Debbie Wasserman Shultz, a Florida Representative supporting Hillary, you may visit her web page HERE. I could not find an e-mail to send her the information you requested someone to send her, but I did find her telephone number.

Beth C. Taylor,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I especially like this part of your comment: “The young lady’s e-mail was respectful; Ms. Brazile’s response was highly rude and very telling about the way these primaries are being run.”
This young lady poured her heart out to the much more seasoned and older Ms. Brazile, and Brazile slapped her in the face, scolded her like she was a 2-year-old, then turned her around and kicked her in the butt, causing her to fall face-down in the mud. What a way to treat a fellow Democrat who is just starting out.
Maybe the moderate Democrats should look into just how corrupt the leftist media and the Democratic primary system are run. They may uncover some shocking information. One can only look at the ’super delegate’ system to see that all the state contests along with all the people who voted could be thrown into the garbage by the SD’s. Also, Hillary would be the nominee by now if their was winner-take-all contests. In my opinion, the whole system needs to be scrapped and replaced with something closer to what the Republicans have. The Democratic system should mirror the how the general election is allocated since it is from that model that the president is actually chosen.
This is just another in the long list of what’s wrong with Obama’s campaign. I feel so badly for this young voter. What an introduction! But, more and more, this is how the Obama campaign and supporters have been treating people to don’t fawn all over Obama and just become one of his followers. If Obama is the Democratic nominee, I will definitely vote McCain in the fall. At least McCain proves by this record that he cares about not wasting taxpayer money on pork barrel projects. What has Obama done besides use the Chicago Political Machine to get to where he is. Chicago politics is dirty politics. I know. I live near Chciago and hear about it every day. I can say Obama is not “old-style politics as usual”…he is Chicago politics, and that’s even worse.
I respected Donna Brazile’s opinion on CNN before I read the email she sent back to this teenager. It appears that she is getting stressed and tense. She had a meltdown the other night on CNN that was rather unappealing to the viewing public. Perhaps a nice holiday from contributing to CNN would be in order.
Maybe she is aware that Obama is also under scrutiny regarding an article published on the front page of The Globe magazine. If true, it could derail Obama’s campaign in record time.
It’s cause Brazile thinks Isis is white.
I am so glad to post on a blog, without the name calling, I am a new republican, .my party no longer exists. So sad that our country could be in the hands of an anti-American, such as Obamas. so scary!
Sharon,
Welcome aboard.
We Republicans WON’T treat you disrespectfully, nor take you for granted. We surely do NOT agree politically on everything, and DO aggressively challenge and debate our beliefs with each other, as well as with our adversaries. But we (let me know if a Republican or conservative treats you or your friends disrespectfully) try to do this with our friends, allies AND our enemies in a dignified and respectful manner. What Ms. Brazile did to this Young Democrat is horrible, in my opinion. In my opinion, Ms. Brazile and the elites in the Democratic party are taking for granted that you moderates will have no where to go come election time - even after they have trashed and abused you and your young. But you DO have somewhere to go. You can join the MANY other Democrats, Republicans and Independents this election cycle and vote for John McCain, like you have stated. Then, after this election, you can try to put your party back in order and get some sanity back in place there. You do NOT have to do anything you do not want to do in the Republican party. You may leave or split your vote any way you wish. Just make sure these elites, such as Obama and his ilk, DO NOT get elected again so that you don’t have more trouble in 4 years. Then you may be able to help Hillary get elected and oppose us once again. No strings attached - just the smart thing to do in the face of out of control elitism and radical leftism run rampant in the Democratic party.
BTW, John McCain WILL treat all you Democrats with R-E-S-P-E-C-T, dignity and honor.
Thanks for all your help in this matter.
Dawn,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I haven’t heard about the article published in Globe Magazine yet. Perhaps I should look into this.
Thanks for the info.
BTW, maybe Ms. Brazile, like Barack Obama, really feel the way they have communicated, but don’t show it regularly. Maybe they are just hiding their true contempt for moderate Democrats through smooth words and niceties. What do you think?
Patricia,
I don’t know if you are correct or not. But one thing is for sure, you WON’T be treated like that in the Republican party no matter what color or ethnicity you are. Please let me know if this ever happens to anyone because we will not tolerate racists of any kind. We also like to treat people respectfully.
Feel free to stop by again and comment.
Julie mn,
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I welcome you as a new Republican.
You are NOT obliged to vote for ONLY Republicans (although we don’t discourage it, either) and not for Democrats and Independents. We will try NOT to take advantage of you, nor be disrespecful to you. Please let me know if you are treated badly by any conservative or Republican.
Again, welcome aboard - and feel the FREEDOM of choice! You are now set FREE!
Brazile was more than melting down on CNN. This woman had the unmitigated GALL to say that the “new Democratic Party” didn’t
need blue collar workers and Hispanics” I kid you not. There’s a video of it at noquarter. How DARE she and Dean overtly favor a candidate, they should be fired. I think if Barack ends up with the nomination because the media and the DNC forced him down our throats, the Democratic Party base will LEAVE. I certainly will. I think Hillary should run as an Independent if they STEAL the nomination ( he does NOT have the 2209 delegates he needs) then there WILL be a total fracture of the Party. These snot nosed rude young voters that back him up are CLUELESS and refuse to face the fact that he CAN NOT WIN IN THE GE. People en masse will vote for McCain, including Democrats to ENSURE that Barack and Michelle NEVER set foot in the Hite House. Between his total inexperience and his racist and criminal and radical terrorist associates, ne is UNFIT for the Presidency. How dare he proclaim himself the winner with all the suck up media fawning over him and crowning him king. He’s a total FRAUD.
Wow, this is just further proof that Obama’s supporters are nothing but a cult. That is a horribly rude response to a person that was being honest and polite. Apparently disagreeing with Obama is anti-American. That sounds a lot like Dick Cheney talking…or Karl Rove. Thankfully, McCain is a different candidate and not surrounded by a bunch of radicals like Obama.
These tactics amply demonstrate that the New Democratic Party is the party of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov.
As an HRC Democrat, Brazile’s comment does not surprise me one bit. When the Messiah speaks, all of his people just listen. They don’t question, they care about ONE THING!! Get an African American into the White House. Rev Wright, his radical past, his lies….doesn’t matter. Don’t try to reason with them…it’s hopless…give up. Your first instinct is to sit this one out or write in Hillary on the ballot. Meaningless. A vote for McCain is a vote against OBama. McCain in 2008! Go McCain!
Well, I can’t believe the Clinton people now understand how it fells to be shouted down. dissent will not be tolerated. Resistance is futile. We are Borg. We are Obamatons. Like a ticking clock, you can set your watch by it.
God almighty, when Obama becomes Caesar, we will all be afraid. The biggest problem is that Brutus Wright was not rational either, and he failed. History will be rewritten.
We will be taxed until we die.
Don’t worry, in four years I’ll get better.
Kathryn,
By all means, tell us how you really feel.
I can tell that you are really upset. I cannot say that I can blame you. These elites in the Democratic party seem to not want to bother with reaching out to blue collar workers and hispanics. What are they thinking? Maybe they are starting to drink their own Kool-Aid.
I say WELCOME to the Republican party, where you can vote as little or as much of a Republican ticket as you wish. If you don’t like a Republican for a certain postion, then go ahead and vote for a Democrat or Independent. Our party is a FREEDOM party that sets people FREE from divisive group politics. If at any time you wish to return to the Democratic party, we won’t hold you back, althoug we may try to RESPECTFULLY encourage you to stay longer.
Vote for McCain this election cycle, then Mrs. Clinton can run again in 2012. If we get enough moderate Democrats to follow this strategy, then maybe you can rid your party of the grip that the far left has on it.
Welcome aboard. Let me know if I can help in any way.
I too am a life long Dem who is sick of some of the antics and rhetoric coming from the Obama camp. I initially promised to support whoever the Dem candidate would be. However, I’m beginning to consider voting for a Republican for the first time in my life. I’m sick of the fawning media, especially on MSNBC and throughout the blogosphere at places like Daily Kos which I used to visit frequently but am now embarrassed of. The juvenile, thugish behavior at these sites is incredible. I think a victory for him would also be a vote for sexism and misogyny. I’m sure that many Clinton supporters have been intimidated at the caucuses throughout the country which is another reason he’s been so successful. And don’t get me started on FL & MI.
To be clear to your readers, this does not mean I would be a converted Republican. There are still many issues I disagree with you guys on. I must admit, I would never consider this if your nominee was someone other than McCain. I think he’s an honorable man who is willing to at least listen to different viewpoints. I think he would do what is right for the country as opposed to just his party. Rush was wrong about him. The country doesn’t need anymore extremists. We need someone who is more moderate and can reach out to middle-class Americans from both left and right of center. This is the only way to bring the country together. He can get more voters like me if he makes it clear he is not hell-bent on continuing the war or getting us into another one. Respectfully, he would help himself by distancing himself as much as possible from Bush. He’ll have to do a better job with domestic issues like healthcare as well. This country needs to start doing what is best for the nation as a whole and stop partisan bickering. Well, good luck with your efforts.
ShannonL,
Yea, I was astonished to read the part of Donna Brazile’s response to the young Democrats’ honest e-mail to her where she said this: ” I am not going to respond to any more anti American, Anti Democratic emails.”
Is she actually saying that anyone who is still sticking up for Mrs. Clinton is “anti-American” and “Anti-Democratic?” I am flabbergasted as to why Ms. Brazile would state such a thing. Can anyone explain what she was trying to say here? I would really like a rational explaination as to what she was espousing by those remarks.
Yes, McCain is a different kind of a candidate. He has something about him that virtuously everyone can like (and not like by default), so that everyone can get a piece of the pie. He’s not perfect, but he’s NOT Obama, either. And that’s the most important thing for me.
Lenin,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Come by anytime and comment as you see fit.
ncjack,
I, personally, would love to vote for a reasonable, qualified black person for POTUS who had a shot at actually winning the spot. But, I would vote for Hillary Clinton (this is really hard for a conservative Republican like myself to admit) in a HEARTBEAT over Barack Obama because of all of the things I have learned about this man. Mrs. Clinton sounds tame compared to what I know about Obama. Clinton has ideas and convictions that she let’s the America people actually KNOW about, whereas Barack Obama, in my opinion, is a political FRAUD. I would trust Hillary (even though I vehemately oppose her plans concerning Iraq) most definetly over BHO on foreign policy, too. I used to think Hillary Clinton was quite frightening. But compared to Barack Obama, she seems tame.
As far as not voting verses voting for John McCain, I believe that you are 100% correct. If you don’t vote for McCain, then you cannot cancel out a vote for Obama. Look, I don’t agree with McCain on about 35% of issues, but I don’t agree with Barack on maybe 90% of issues. You do the math. A vote FOR John McCain is a vote AGAINST Barack Obama. Please help John so that your party can get back to sanity once again. Then Hillary can run in 2012, and you can support her then. John McCain will be 76 years old by then anyway.
Please feel free to stop by again and agree or disagree with me.
Thanks.
Gringo John,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Feel free to do the same in the future.
Marc1A,
I do thank you for stopping by and giving us such a large comment. I enjoyed reading it, and believe it to be a sincere effort at reaching out to John McCain and Republicans.
John McCain is NOT my favorite candidate, but he is a good candidate who has demonstrated that he can, and WILL, reach across the aisle to get things accomplished for America. I certainly do NOT agree with him on several important issues I believe in, but it is really hard to find a candidate that I agree with on everything.
I believe that if John McCain were in charge at the beginning of the Iraq war, there would be NO al-Qaeda in Iraq today. If John McCain had been commander-in-chief, we probably wouldn’t have had to endure the ruinous policies of Debathification and the dissolution of the army and police. I believe that Mr. Bush has been incompetent with Iraq from the beginning. I also believe that because Mr. McCain is a tough, no-nonsense guy, that that personality will help to dissuade our enemies from militarily testing us. I cannot say the same thing about Barack Obama.
As far as healthcare is concerned, here is his vision from his web site:
[John McCain Believes The Key To Health Care Reform Is To Restore Control To The Patients Themselves. We want a system of health care in which everyone can afford and acquire the treatment and preventative care they need. Health care should be available to all and not limited by where you work or how much you make. Families should be in charge of their health care dollars and have more control over care.
John McCain Will Reform Health Care Making It Easier For Individuals And Families To Obtain Insurance. An important part of his plan is to use competition to improve the quality of health insurance with greater variety to match people's needs, lower prices, and portability. Families should be able to purchase health insurance nationwide, across state lines.
John McCain Will Reform The Tax Code To Offer More Choices Beyond Employer-Based Health Insurance Coverage. While still having the option of employer-based coverage, every family will also have the option of receiving a direct refundable tax credit - effectively cash - of $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families to offset the cost of insurance. Families will be able to choose the insurance provider that suits them best and the money would be sent directly to the insurance provider. Those obtaining innovative insurance that costs less than the credit can deposit the remainder in expanded Health Savings Accounts.
John McCain Proposes Making Insurance More Portable. Americans need insurance that follows them from job to job. They want insurance that is still there if they retire early and does not change if they take a few years off to raise the kids.
John McCain Will Encourage And Expand The Benefits Of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) For Families. When families are informed about medical choices, they are more capable of making their own decisions and often decide against unnecessary options. Health Savings Accounts take an important step in the direction of putting families in charge of what they pay for.
John McCain's Plan Cares For The Traditionally Uninsurable. John McCain understands that those without prior group coverage and those with pre-existing conditions have the most difficulty on the individual market, and we need to make sure they get the high-quality coverage they need.
John McCain Will Work With States To Establish A Guaranteed Access Plan. As President, John McCain will work with governors to develop a best practice model that states can follow - a Guaranteed Access Plan or GAP - that would reflect the best experience of the states to ensure these patients have access to health coverage. One approach would establish a nonprofit corporation that would contract with insurers to cover patients who have been denied insurance and could join with other state plans to enlarge pools and lower overhead costs. There would be reasonable limits on premiums, and assistance would be available for Americans below a certain income level.
John McCain Will Promote Proper Incentives. John McCain will work with Congress, the governors, and industry to make sure this approach is funded adequately and has the right incentives to reduce costs such as disease management, individual case management, and health and wellness programs.
John McCain Proposes A Number Of Initiatives That Can Lower Health Care Costs. If we act today, we can lower health care costs for families through common-sense initiatives. Within a decade, health spending will comprise twenty percent of our economy. This is taking an increasing toll on America's families and small businesses. Even Senators Clinton and Obama recognize the pressure skyrocketing health costs place on small business when they exempt small businesses from their employer mandate plans.
CHEAPER DRUGS: Lowering Drug Prices. John McCain will look to bring greater competition to our drug markets through safe re-importation of drugs and faster introduction of generic drugs.
CHRONIC DISEASE: Providing Quality, Cheaper Care For Chronic Disease. Chronic conditions account for three-quarters of the nation's annual health care bill. By emphasizing prevention, early intervention, healthy habits, new treatment models, new public health infrastructure and the use of information technology, we can reduce health care costs. We should dedicate more federal research to caring and curing chronic disease.
COORDINATED CARE: Promoting Coordinated Care. Coordinated care - with providers collaborating to produce the best health care - offers better outcomes at lower cost. We should pay a single bill for high-quality disease care which will make every single provider accountable and responsive to the patients' needs.
GREATER ACCESS AND CONVENIENCE: Expanding Access To Health Care. Families place a high value on quickly getting simple care. Government should promote greater access through walk-in clinics in retail outlets.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Greater Use Of Information Technology To Reduce Costs. We should promote the rapid deployment of 21st century information systems and technology that allows doctors to practice across state lines.
MEDICAID AND MEDICARE: Reforming The Payment System To Cut Costs. We must reform the payment systems in Medicaid and Medicare to compensate providers for diagnosis, prevention and care coordination. Medicaid and Medicare should not pay for preventable medical errors or mismanagement.
SMOKING: Promoting The Availability Of Smoking Cessation Programs. Most smokers would love to quit but find it hard to do so. Working with business and insurance companies to promote availability, we can improve lives and reduce chronic disease through smoking cessation programs.
STATE FLEXIBILITY: Encouraging States To Lower Costs. States should have the flexibility to experiment with alternative forms of access, coordinated payments per episode covered under Medicaid, use of private insurance in Medicaid, alternative insurance policies and different licensing schemes for providers.
TORT REFORM: Passing Medical Liability Reform. We must pass medical liability reform that eliminates lawsuits directed at doctors who follow clinical guidelines and adhere to safety protocols. Every patient should have access to legal remedies in cases of bad medical practice but that should not be an invitation to endless, frivolous lawsuits.
TRANSPARENCY: Bringing Transparency To Health Care Costs. We must make public more information on treatment options and doctor records, and require transparency regarding medical outcomes, quality of care, costs and prices. We must also facilitate the development of national standards for measuring and recording treatments and outcomes.
John McCain Will Develop A Strategy For Meeting The Challenge Of A Population Needing Greater Long-Term Care. There have been a variety of state-based experiments such as Cash and Counseling or The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) that are pioneering approaches for delivering care to people in a home setting. Seniors are given a monthly stipend which they can use to: hire workers and purchase care-related services and goods. They can get help managing their care by designating representatives, such as relatives or friends, to help make decisions. It also offers counseling and bookkeeping services to assist consumers in handling their programmatic responsibilities.
MYTH: Some Claim That Under John McCain's Plan, Those With Pre-Existing Conditions Would Be Denied Insurance.
FACT: John McCain Supported The Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act In 1996 That Took The Important Step Of Providing Some Protection Against Exclusion Of Pre-Existing Conditions.
FACT: Nothing In John McCain's Plan Changes The Fact That If You Are Employed And Insured You Will Build Protection Against The Cost Of Any Pre-Existing Condition.
FACT: As President, John McCain Would Work With Governors To Find The Solutions Necessary To Ensure Those With Pre-Existing Conditions Are Able To Easily Access Care.]
This may be much more that you may have wanted me to post, but I didn’t want to leave out any concerns that you may have about healthcare issues. I hope that you can find something about his vision that you like.
I understand that you are NOT becoming a Republican, but I would encourage you to vote for John McCain this election cycle so that your party, and OUR country, doesn’t get ruined by Barack Obama and his radical friends. Then you may return to voting for Hillary Clinton in 2012.
Please feel free to come back and agree or disagree with me in the future.
Thanks everyone, I’ve loved my party for so long, and I don’t know what’s happening to it. I am still not committing to anything, but I do know that it is unbelievable the type of people that have seized control of it and will do everything they can to have Senator Obama as their Nominee, regardless of how many they disenfranchise. Their excuse about young voters is not only hilarious but completely untrue. The people my age who vote for him now do not vote for him for any other reason other than personality, and their votes are anything but set in stone. As someone else said, what an introduction to the Democratic Party. His following is like that of a cult. I have even seen websites insisting that he is the second coming of Christ. It weirds me out. Thanks to all for encouraging comments, and I have to go to bed again now but keep spreading this around.
Little Isis,
Thanks for stopping by again.
